Rhode Island is home to wineries and vineyards that produce some of New England's finest wines. Here's your guide to visiting the wineries of Rhode Island for tours, tasting and wine shopping.
Diamond Hill Vineyards
Located in Cumberland, Rhode Island, Diamond Hill Vineyards was founded in 1976. Wine specialties include Estate Pinot Noir and grape and fruit wines such as cranberry-apple, peach and even blueberry wine in the fall. The winery offers custom, personalized labels for its wine, making them a nice choice for gifts or wedding or party favors.
Greenvale Vineyards
This winery is contained within an historic, 19th-century Victorian farm in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. It is open for vineyard tours, tastings, and sales Wednesday through Sunday during the summer months and weekends at other times.
Newport Vineyards
Tours and tastings are available daily at this Middletown, Rhode Island, winery overlooking Rhode Island Sound. Newport Vineyards offers custom-designed wine labels to commemorate special events.
Sakonnet Vineyards
Founded in 1975, this Little Compton, Rhode Island, wine producer produces 50,000 cases of Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Vidal Blanc each year. Tours and tastings are available every day, and you can also view the film, “A Year in the Vineyards,” at the start of your tour.
