The Maine Chowder House
& Scallywag Tavern Guest Review submitted by: Jon Rating: Four Gold Leaves. Very good.
My wife and I were traveling through to Bar Harbor, and we stopped for lunch at the Maine Chowder House on Route 1 in Belfast, Maine. It was our first time eating there, and I have to say we were really satisfied: great food, our waitress was really nice and we really didn't spend all that much for what we got. The Portuguese Fisherman's Stew was to die for, and my wife's Fish Chowder was the best that she's eaten on the Maine coast. We highly recommend that you try this place out. The new owner was a hoot, as well. He stopped by the table and chatted for a few minutes, and with everything that was going on, it was nice to be appreciated by what seemed to be a very busy man. Nice job, Maine Chowder House. See you in the spring! |
